Every day the promotion of goods and services becomes a real challenge for any marketer. Push notifications are a great tool that can help you promote your goods and services. Following the push notifications in mobile apps, now there are browser push ads.

What are the push notifications?

Push notification is a short pop-up message with a link to the sender’s site. The message appears on top of all open windows, which increases its readability. The advertising Push notifications network claims that the viewability of push messages is 90%.

Push notifications are similar to SMS messages – text limit, high level of involvement. But at the same time, push messages have a number of characteristics that distinguish them from other channels.

First, it’s cost. Most services do not provide unlimited tariff plans for sending SMS. So, the cost of mailing will be calculated in accordance with the spent text limits. Push notifications in this regard are much cheaper: payment is only for the number of subscribers.

Secondly, it is a system of unsubscription and subscription. In the case of e-mail newsletters, everything is very clear: the user fills in the registration form and clicks the Subscribe button. The unsubscription occurs via a link from the received email message. But 3/4 of all sent letters are spam.

A similar situation is with SMS-mailings. Many marketers believe that having their subscriber number allows them to send promo messages. This again leads to bought bases, illegal collection of numbers, and discontent of subscribers. It’s quite difficult to unsubscribe from SMS mailing: the only way is through a mobile operator, but it does not always work either.

The main plus of push notifications is the inability to send spam. Each registered subscriber is assigned an encrypted string (token). The token is unique for each domain, key, and device type. Therefore, a user who subscribes to web-push from a PC will not receive additional notifications on his mobile phone or personal computer. Accordingly, it is impossible to take the database of tokens of other subscribers.
